This beach is a popular one with water sports enthusiasts. There's ideal conditions for surfing, windsurfing, kite surfing and many other forms of water sport. The beach is heavily built up with shingle each winter to protect from coastal erosion, and the majority of it is made up of pebbles, however if you take the time to travel west you will find the most tranquil and beautiful beach for miles around.
The western end of Hayling Beach is made up mostly of sand, and the water is very shallow up to a mile out, thanks to the large sand bar that extends right out in the solent. You can safely walk out on this sand bar at low tide, but be careful as it gets cut off as the tide begins to come back in.

Hayling Island is a large sea beach with medium occupation rate. The beach does not face the East side (in most cases this means that the sun rises earlier than usually) and it is wind affected. The beach is composed of shingle and it is not nudist friendly. The best month to visit the Hayling Island is July.
